I know that I was told that I could not sign September callups who were making MLB debuts last September, but am also unclear as to whether such players are MLB free agents or still need to pass thru the draft first.
Based on a convo with Tory I had about Semien earlier, he is eligible for free agency. Nice job posting, Mike - I was trying to hold off on posting him.
From Big Show rules: "Each year, between November and March, clubs may sign free agents through the Big Show Free Agency Signing Period (FASP). Free agents are defined as those whose guaranteed contracts expired for players who have greater than six years of service time, any international free agent who signed a major-league contract, any major- or minor-league player who was granted free agency through releases, non-tenders, and other forms of removal from a team roster, any pre-existing free agent, and anyone who is not bound to any team but played in the MLB in the prior season. ReplyDeleteTory - what is the status on September call-ups? Semien debuted on 9.4.13.

ReplyDeleteMy apologies for the delayed response on this. Per our basic agreement, Marcus Semien is eligible to be signed during our current free agency period.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to request an extension on Semien as we are also bidding on other middle infielders.
